ManyChat pricing, and how to work out your own number

ManyChat does not have one price, and that is the whole reason this question gets searched. The cost moves with how many people you are talking to, which means the honest answer is a calculation rather than a figure.

Below is how the model works and how to estimate your own number before committing to anything. Published tier prices change and are best read on the vendor's own pricing page at the moment you sign up, rather than from a third-party page written months earlier - including this one.

The shape of the pricing

Why contact-based pricing is the right shape for this

Because your cost rises only when the thing that makes you money rises. A month where nothing works costs you almost nothing; a month where the mechanic lands costs more, because more people are in conversations, which is the month you can afford it.

Compare that with a flat monthly fee, which charges the same whether the mechanic is producing or idle, and which therefore does its most expensive damage exactly when you are least able to absorb it. Usage-linked pricing is the friendlier of the two models for anyone starting from nothing.

How to estimate your number in about two minutes

  1. Take the engagement you actually get now, not the engagement you expect after everything works. Count comments on a typical post, not your best one.
  2. Assume a fraction convert to a DM conversation. Only people who comment the trigger word enter, so this is smaller than total engagement.
  3. Multiply by posts per month. That is roughly your new contacts per month.
  4. Add them up over the months you plan to run it, because contacts accumulate rather than reset. This is the step people miss, and it is why the bill surprises them in month four rather than month one.
  5. Read your band off the vendor's current pricing page. Now the figure is yours rather than someone's example.

The number that actually matters

Not the monthly cost. The cost per conversation, and then what a conversation is worth to you.

A tool that costs a modest amount and produces a few hundred real conversations a month is inexpensive per conversation by any standard, and if the offer at the end of those conversations pays a meaningful commission, the arithmetic stops being close. Judging a running cost in isolation, without the revenue side of the equation in view, is how people talk themselves out of tools that would have paid for themselves several times over.

Where it sits against the rest of the costs

It is one of the few running costs of this method that is not already included in the training. Hosting is trivial, the content costs time rather than money, and the platforms are free. That makes chat automation the main recurring line item, which is worth knowing before you start rather than discovering in month two.

The full cost breakdown puts every line together so you can see the whole picture rather than one item at a time.

When the free tier stops being enough

When you hit the contact ceiling, which is a good problem and the only reliable signal that the mechanic is working. Upgrade at that point and not before: paying for headroom you are not using is the most common way people spend money on this before it has earned any.
